THE EGG WHITE PROTEIN BARS
Protein

Proteins are the major building blocks of muscles and other tissues in our bodies. For proteins to serve our bodies they need to be metabolized into their simplest form: amino acids.

Our bodies need 20 amino acids and 8 of those amino acids need to be directly consumed in our diets – the absence of any of these will compromise the ability of tissue to grow, be repaired or be maintained.

Animal protein sources are considered to be higher quality than other protein sources and is most similar to the kind found in our own bodies. When it comes to structural processes such as muscle building, egg-white protein has an optimal rate of absorption by the human body – therefore, it’s an ideal component for our protein bars.

Egg-white protein provides all 8 of the essential amino acids your body needs to function at its best, unlike plant proteins which lack one or more of these amino acids. It’s high in quality and easily digested, dairy-free and fat-free, and is definitely the tastiest of the proteins out there!

Egg-whites contain around 90% water and 10% protein (13 different types of protein molecules), around 0% fat, around 0% cholesterol and less than 1% carbohydrates. Egg-white comprises 56% of an egg and is low in calories - just 17kcal or 3,5 fewer calories compared to the egg-yolk of the same egg.

The recommended daily protein intake includes:

56–91 grams per day for the average male.

46–75 grams per day for the average female.
